I am a native Miamian and so were both of my parents…..pretty rare these days! I graduated from Miami Killian Senior High School where I first got my love of writing which eventually led me to major in Communications at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. I graduated from Wheaton with a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in radio. My first job in radio many years ago was at WIOD where I was a producer of some of the shows for the guys called “The Great Entertainers.” One of those guys was Larry King…who was a local radio personality at the time. I enjoyed producing his show for about a year until he was hired by Mutual Radio and for him…the rest is history!
After WIOD I went to work at Eastern Airlines as a ticket and gate agent but I missed radio so I started volunteering at WMCU, the local Christian station here in Miami, and eventually was hired as their News Director and worked there full time and kept my part time job at Eastern as well.
I did quit radio for a time to raise my three wonderful children…Andy, Daniel and Kelly…. But once the kids were all in school, the radio bug bit again and I went back to WMCU as the News Director and morning co-host and stayed at WMCU for nine years until the station was sold.
After WMCU I took a job as the Public Relations Director for the Miami Rescue Mission and Broward Outreach Centers and helped them launch some radio programs.
When Calvary Chapel bought Life FM I was hired as the first full time employee and I had a wonderful time helping to get the station up and running…and I’m now the Program Director and Morning Show Host. (We just celebrated five years of being on the air here in South Florida…March 1st was our birthday!)
I love my church, Calvary Chapel Kendall where Pastor Pedro Garcia is the Senior Pastor. I’ve had a personal relationship with Jesus since the age of six and I’m passionate about sharing the Good News of His salvation with others especially through Christian radio!
